Why Use This Course Platform Pricing Calculator?

Side-by-side monthly cost for up to three course platform plans, with a percentage transaction fee on gross course sales priced separately from subscription meters
Instructor seats, hosted video hours and email contacts are billed as separate overage lines, with contacts rounded up to whole 1,000-contact blocks the way platforms bill extra contacts
Year one applies an annual prepay discount to the subscription only, keeping transaction fees at the monthly rate so a discount cannot hide a percentage fee
A scale check reports the cheapest plan at 2x and 4x your monthly sales, plus the first sales level and the first contact count where the leader changes, so a cheap base price cannot hide a steep transaction percentage
Copy-ready summary with a clear rate disclaimer; all inputs stay in the browser and the static worked example remains readable with JS off

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a course platform cost?
It depends on four meters you enter: gross monthly course sales, instructor seats, hosted video hours and email contacts. The calculator does not assert vendor prices; it combines your numbers into a monthly subscription, a transaction fee, a monthly total, a year-one cost and cost as a percentage of sales.
What is a course platform transaction fee?
Some plans charge a percentage of the gross sales processed through the platform, separate from the payment processor's own fee. Enter that percentage and the calculator adds it to the monthly total; processor fees are a separate line you can price with a payment-fee tool.
How are email contacts billed?
Most platforms include a contact allowance and bill extra contacts in blocks such as 1,000 contacts. Enter the rate per 1,000; the calculator rounds partial blocks up, so 1,500 extra contacts bill as two blocks.
Why does the cheapest plan change with sales volume?
A low base price usually hides a percentage transaction fee, while a higher base often charges no fee. The calculator reports the first whole dollar of monthly sales where the leader changes, so a plan that wins at launch does not win at scale.
Should I prepay annually?
Enter each plan's annual discount and compare year one against twelve monthly payments. The calculator applies the discount to the subscription only, not to transaction fees, because those usually follow the monthly rate.
Does this calculator use real course platform prices?
No. Every rate is entered by you; the presets are example rates, not vendor quotes. That keeps the tool accurate without stale or scraped pricing.

Methodology

Monthly total = plan base + seat and video-hour overage + whole 1,000-contact blocks + transaction fees on gross course sales; the annual discount applies to the subscription. All prices are user inputs.
