Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a helpdesk cost per agent per month?
It depends on the per-agent rate you enter — the calculator does not assert vendor prices. The model multiplies agents by the seat rate, adds ticket overage and AI resolutions, then applies onboarding and the annual discount.
Is Zendesk or Freshdesk cheaper for a small support team?
The cheaper option depends on your negotiated seat rate, ticket volume, AI-resolution usage and annual billing. Enter each plan's own numbers rather than comparing list-price headlines.
How does ticket-volume overage work?
Each plan includes a monthly ticket allowance. Tickets above it bill in blocks (for example per extra 1,000), so a high-volume inbox can cost more than the seats.
Should I include AI resolutions in the cost model?
Yes if the plan charges per AI-resolved conversation. Enter the monthly count and fee; leave it at zero when AI is included or unused.
Should I choose monthly or annual helpdesk billing?
Annual billing usually discounts the seat price but locks in spend. The calculator shows both totals and the saving so you can weigh the discount against flexibility.
Does this calculator use real vendor prices?
No. Every rate is entered by you; presets are example rates, not vendor quotes. That keeps the tool accurate without stale or scraped pricing.

Methodology

Monthly total = agent seats × seat rate + ticket-overage blocks + AI resolutions + add-ons; the annual total applies your prepay discount. All prices are user inputs.
